About Sandy – I’ve been an elementary (Primary) teacher for over 25 years and have taught in both public and private schools. I also spent a year teaching English in Japan. Currently, I have the privilege of teaching kindergarten part-time at Heritage Christian School in Kelowna, BC, Canada. Young children have such an amazing capacity for learning and creativity! In our classroom we love to combine our work with singing, creative movement, art, play and hands-on exploration. I’m also blessed to be a pastor’s wife, mom and writer. I enjoy songwriting and have just released my third album, Shine! I also love getting outdoors to hike, kayak and cross-country ski. My husband, Dale, and I live in Kelowna and have two married daughters who are also teachers.
Music – My gospel albums, In the Light and Shine have great songs for kids of all ages! You’ll love the Bible-based lyrics, catchy melodies and musical styles for everyone in the family. Listen through iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube Music and other music streaming sites.
Early Literacy – Rhythms & Rhymes for Alphabet Times curriculum was created to give young children the skills they need to learn to read. One of my favorite and bestselling resources is The Talking Alphabet; this is a fun and easy way for students to learn the basic phonemic sounds that will open the door to reading success! You can also visit my store at TeachersPayTeachers.com to find more Pre-K to Grade Two resources in a wide range of subject areas. Don’t forget to access the free downloads!
Gospel / Christian Education – I feel so blessed to work in a school and live in a country that allows me to share my faith with my students. Every time I read The Best Message of All to a group of kids I am amazed at their enthusiastic, heart-felt response to God’s message of love. The Gospel is so much more than a message – the Bible describes it as “the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes.” Coming into a personal, loving relationship with the Creator of the universe… this is what we were made for… this is where we begin… the foundation for hope, joy and purpose in our lives. Look under the Gospel Resources menu for more information.
The Purpose – To promote literacy and share the message of God’s love with children around the world.
